kx250frider617 Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 I just installed my p1000x2 amp and I am getting a high pitch noise out of the left channel only when the engine is running. When the engine is off, everything is perfect. The weird thing is, I switched the RCA left to right, and it is still the Left speakers that are hissing, so I know its the left side output that Im dealing with. I've already messed with the power wires and grounds, but haven't solved it. Could it be an issue with the amp itself? Except why would it be fine with the engine off? Any other ideas that I can try? I have already swapped speakers, and tried a different audio source. Could it be the speaker wire?

SIDE SHOW Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 cheack the speaker terminals/crossover.... swap left and right channel over on the amp and see if it swaps sides, if it's the same side you have an issue after the amp either to the input of the crossover or speaker (pinched wire ect)
Deeznutz Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 We had some weird feedback when we installed the system in the Ram truck. We ran another set of RCAs from the radio to the amp to rule out the RCAs. Turned out to be the RCA cable. The cable was pinched pretty badly by the metal mounting bench seat bracket. The RCA must have moved when we re-installed the bench seat crushing one channel of the RCA. This story may or may not help, but like ^^ said, try other sources of input. Good luck. -Frank

Tomorrow ill try swapping the speaker wire outputs at the amp, and try running RCA's to rule out those. If it were pinched speaker wires, would't it still hiss with the engine off? Also, if I were to ground the HU to the amp, could I just attached the wire to the case of the head unit? Or so I have to use the HU actual ground? update: I just ran my phone directly to the amp with a RCA>headphone jack wire, no hissing. So it's got to be RCA's. Im just baffled its only affecting the left channel and not the right.

kx250frider617 Posted March 19, 2015 Author Report Posted March 19, 2015 Well I have a new amp on the way. It was something internal. I would get an alternator hiss but only on the Left Channel and it didn't the sound didn't fluctuate with the engine RPM's. It would also hiss if I plugged in another set of RCA to test with, even if they weren't connected to a source unit.
