Lol, I get that a lot on the American sites! They're common as hell down here - Toyota, Nissan and Mazda all do crew cabs. You still pay good money for the 'yotas, but everything else is reasonably cheap. Man... id kill for a CREW CAB mini......they are non exsistant here.......... im dreaming of a 6th order already.... As I mentioned, audio gear here is crazy expensive - I'm looking at $600NZD for a 170a Mechman, which just isn't in the budget for the time being, so I had to think outside of the box. The stock alternator puts out a whopping 45amps which is barely enough to support a head unit, let alone a 3000w+ stereo system, so I sourced a 120amp alt off a late model Mitsubishi sedan. The mounting tabs were different to the stock alt, so had to get creative with the mill. Stock on the left, 120a alt on the right. All done https://www.facebook.com/SinisterKustoms
sinister-kustoms Posted April 9, 2015 Author Report Posted April 9, 2015 Well I spend 10 hours over Easter Sunday on this heap and still feels like I didn't get a lot done. All the little shit that you don't really see takes so damn long! Any way, both baffles are now glued in - bottom one is 30mm and the top is 18mm. Combined with the bracing and right angle steel, this thing is solid as fuck! Spent a bit of time filling some of the pocket holes with reinforced filler as some of them poked out from under the recessed baffle. I've used 5mm threaded inserts so I can bolt the subs in rather than just screwing them in to the wood (this alone took over an hour - 32 pilot holes follwed by 32 6.5mm holes and then screwing in 32 inserts....glad I'm not doing that again!).
