jarod027 Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 Hey guys I've nearly lost my mind trying to figure out my latest problem. I've had 2 12" subwoofers hooked up since the summer. Recently, they stopped working. I assumed it was because I over powered them and they blew. I replaced the subwoofers and still nothing. Then I replaced the radio and amp, to no avail. The speaker wire is new throughout both subs, I even tried new input wires. Amp turns on but I don't get any bass. My guess and check method clearly isn't working, do you guys have any idea what is causing this?
firebirdude Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 LOL! So you've replaced every piece of equipment in the car, without actually doing any real troubleshooting. Disconnect the subwoofers from the amp. Turn the vehicle/head unit on, grab a meter and test for +12V at the amp's input while using the amp's ground as reference. Test the BAT and REM inputs for +12V. If you've got +12V at both those spot while using the ground as reference, the amp should be powering up. Period. Trace your problem forward or backward from there.

SnowDrifter Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 Lets start from the top: Get a multi meter Check for voltage before the fuse on your power wire Check for voltage after the fuse on your power wire Check for voltage at the amp Check that your remote turn on for your amp is getting power Set it to AC volts now. Turn up your radio and check the RCAs for voltage Now check your amplifier output for voltag Now set your DMM to resistance. Put the probes on your terminals and check the resistance. If it reads open circuit or 0 ohms, pull your subs and check the resistance at the subs. Post all your results here and from that, I should be able to point you in the direction of a fix ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
