I have an amplified line coming from a stock amp up front for a stock rear sub. I've removed the sub and noticed there are four lines, as the sub is DVC. So I spliced into one set, connected both positives on the LOC to the positive stock line, and the same with the negatives.

I'm wondering, since both pairs from the LOC are combined, do I use both gain adjusters? Keep them identical? I'm having a lot of distortion, so I'm wondering how to set these before I try to insulate the signal wires better. BTW, both gains have an "8" on one end, and nothing on the other. Not sure if that's 8v? if both are 8v, is that 16v going out? or 8v?

Also, I don't want to run RCA's from the front amp location as it's a current acura MDX with some crazy wire harness (premium sound, navi etc) and would rather not tear into front panels.

I am not sure about your four wire issue. They first thing I would suggest is trash the output converter and buy a quality aftermarket head unit. If you insist on keeping the converter, you will have to get someone with an oscope or DD-1 to properly tune it to keep the signal distortion free. With the output converter, first you have to find the max undistorted volume of the head unit, then the max undistorted gain of the converter (assuming it is not more than the amp can safely receive in which case you would need to turn the gain back down to a safe level), then you have to find the max undistorted gain of the amp.

trying to use a LOC on your sub connection is probably sending way too much power through it. LOC are meant to convert about 15-20 watts tops i would guess. Also, All LOC's are pretty much trash.
