cocoleveo7686 Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 So i ended up getting a singer 270a alt, one blockshakers 55ah battery, and one kinetik hk2400 for my 2 amps. The 2 amps are ab vfl175.1 and alpine pdx5. I currently have one run of 0 gauge. When playing full tilt for a whole song my voltage drops to o12.8 to around 13.2. Is it true that until you drop below 12.8 volts your using your alt? I am running around 4k rms. id like to keep voltage around 14 volts. The alt i have charges at 14.8 as i have bypassed the pcm because my cars pcm wont regulate it right. If i do another run of 0 gauge or swap it out for 2/0 gauge would that keep voltage higher by alot. Or would i be better externally regulating it to 15.3, so when the car warms up i still will sit around 14.7? i wont buy another alt but wanted opinions as i see others running smaller alt with more power
RayRosales Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 Im going to be runing a SINGLE run of 2/0 OFC for a sundown SCV4000 or Nendo 5500 aslo a SAX100.4, and ive been told by many people this will be good, so i would think 4000 rms is okay on a single run of 1/0, that is if its OFC... Miguels Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 It's much cheaper to add the 1/0 gauge. You will spend $110 on just the fuse holders. Have you done the big 3? Is the run of wire you have is CCA or ofc? my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
RayRosales Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 That is what held me back at first, and yes its true, but i'm only doing the run of 2/0 to the back batteries, then from there 1/0 to amps, so i dont have to worry about 60 dollar fuses, smart huh? Miguels Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 You still need to buy 2 fuse holders.. $110 can go towards a spool of 50 feet of ofc. if you already have ofc you just have to buy 17 feet and you have left over money You're going to spend nearly $200 to get that 2\0 property my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
