Belt slip....*$#%

Ok, I am facing reality. I have belt slip on my alternator. Found black powder the belt today... :shok:

The issue is not belt length or tightness....I am almost positive the issue is lack of belt wrap on my pulley...my car is weird...no standard tensioner, it has a funky screw mechanism...this is the best pic I can find of it online...

Is there a way to fix the slipping? I am willing to add a idler pulley if possible and necessary.

Any help would be much appreciated! :)

i got the same issue, i built a beast braket and tighten the living hell out of the belt. (i actually bought a tensioner but refuse to make another bracket)

Not the best solution as an idler would be better but im done messing with a 500 year old car i cant get parts for.

TLDR buy an idler and figure out how to mount it to give you more wrap

Its a 2003 Toyota Highlander on a Mechman 240amp alt. And it was more than just black residue, it would squeak alot upon start up and then go away, I can tighten it down more but the squeaks come back every couple of weeks.

And where is a good place to buy an idler pulley for this application?

How would I go about doing so? At least some movement in the right direction...
