I'm not one to doubt but if you gotta ask these question and have little knowledge of body work and paint I wouldn't even attempt to do color changing paint. As far as cost for a paint job around here one like your describing with proper prep it'd cost at least 7k.. probably 15,000.

But it depends where you live, call around?

For a basic paint job, youre looking at $400 in paint just to do it yourself. Nice paint is expensive!

A couple links to some box builds:

Tahoe Box 1, Tahoe Box 2, Nissan Titan, VW GTI,

Mini-Bump, Hummer H2, Ford F-150

My own car builds (current setup --- under construction):

Overall Thread, Kickpods, Dash, Back Doors

Subwoofer Wall

If you do your own body work and buy your own paint it will reduce the cost alot. Average paint jobs are $2,000-$5,000.

My last one I did myself was $700 in materials. I am in the middle of painting my Tahoe and it looks like it will run about the same. Body and prep work is everything. You can hire the greatest painter in the world,if he he is shooting over shoddy prep work then you will get shoddy results.

There is so many things to learn before taking on a job like this. Even if you are dealing with a new car, safely removing trim can be a challenge if you dont know what you are doing.
