Island Bumpkin
Hey all, I'm putting together a sound system for my DD truck, and I was just curious if there's a big problem mixing brands, because I am all across the board... I'll have a Sundown sub, Alpine speakers, either a Kenwood or Pioneer head unit, some other unknown brand speakers that came with the truck (but sound surprisingly good), and god knows what my amps will be... RooTxBeeR
I consider it the same for any speaker stage. You don't mix subs, you don't mix speakers. Island Bumpkin
So would it be better to match amps to speakers? I did research, and I can run Pioneer for head unit, speakers, and 4 channel amp. If I wanted to keep with amp-sub branding I'd like to get a Sundown amp, but I can't afford one.. reedal
He's saying don't mix and match speakers. You can run whatever brand amps and head unit and EQ you want, but you should have matching speakers, due to different t/s parameters. If you already have alpine speakers and want to keep them, you should get more of those alpine speakers of you need them. Don't use those alpine a in one door and Rockford in another due to them sounding different, or if you're gonna run multiple speakers per door. Stuff like that. Island Bumpkin
Oh I gotcha. I'll have pioneers in the front, with some off brand in the back. I don't have the budget to replace the ones in the back, and they sound pretty good anyways. Auto Enthusiast -- Mechanical Engineering Student 1999 Honda Accord EX. 100% stock driver.
