Skullz
^^^ What he is saying is that the box resonates and creates noise that can be heard. Poly batting and polyfill create a dead sounding box, so all you hear is the actual sound the sub creates. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Yomalley
This forum is great. Honestly didn't expect a response for days. Can a shallow sub ever sound as good as a regular mount sub. ? With a mounting depth of less than 6.5 inches. Have a couple in mind, RE audio 12" SCX or DC Level 2 in a sealed downforce box with .86 cu ft. That is part of why I asked about the polyfill and the true RMS of Kicker CompRT. Have an Atrend b box dual 12" down fire for a GMC Denali crewcab. 3vil
Probably should've started your own thread instead of this necro thread jack thing you got started here, but what ev. Yes a shallow mount sub can sound as good, or even better, than a "regular" sub. The enclosure design will limit how well and sub performs. Build a proper box and get good results, build shit and get shit. That being said, most shallow mount subs have less xmax, so they won't necessarily be giving you the must SPL, but sound quality wise you can still get good results.
