Lakeshow94
Do you guys have any experience with raising the idle rpm to get more out of a high output alt? I just purchased a 180 amp alt from singer. It runs great when I get over 1000 rpms, although my camry idles around 500. At idle with the system going I typically see 12.3-13 volts. Once I even touch the gas and bring it up over 1000 it holds solid around 13.8-14.2. Would it be bad to adjust the idle rpm to say 800-900? I understand my fuel mileage will be worse but would it cause other complications? 1999 Lexus GS 300 Pioneer DEH-80PRS Singer 240 Amp (Will be installed later) Northstar Group 31 & 24 Sundown SCV-4000 Rockford T400-4 2 12" CT Sound Meso CT Sounds 6.5 Meso Components CT Sounds Tropo 6.
Mr DeeBeez
what kind of car do you have? if everything is controlled by the computer, theres not much you can do. I have a 2006 ford fivehundred and my 240a mechman does the same thing. If you can get a smaller alternator pulley you can do that Fi Team 18's (4) Crossfire 16k Crossfire 400.4 & 800.4 Pioneer AVH-X491bhs 140ah cmax CES 320's (2)

I just wondered if that would cause any complications with the vehicle itself 1999 Lexus GS 300 Pioneer DEH-80PRS Singer 240 Amp (Will be installed later) Northstar Group 31 & 24 Sundown SCV-4000 Rockford T400-4 2 12" CT Sound Meso CT Sounds 6.5 Meso Components CT Sounds Tropo 6.

Lakeshow94
Yea new vehicles can be a pain in the ass. I do like alot of the upsides to new cars but in times like this I love having something a bit older. 1999 Lexus GS 300 Pioneer DEH-80PRS Singer 240 Amp (Will be installed later) Northstar Group 31 & 24 Sundown SCV-4000 Rockford T400-4 2 12" CT Sound Meso CT Sounds 6.5 Meso Components CT Sounds Tropo 6.
boom50cal
no idea if it would cause issues. just cause it's possible doesn't mean it is okay. I used a hand held tuner to up the idle RPM of my 4.6 2v Ford motor before, didn't hard anything at all On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole. Mr DeeBeez
I think the only down side would be the mpg. your not idling a lot of the time, and i dont think it would put too much extra strain on the engine. If had the choice i definitely would do it Fi Team 18's (4) Crossfire 16k Crossfire 400.4 & 800.4 Pioneer AVH-X491bhs 140ah cmax CES 320's (2)
