BigManAC Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 I don't see how a sub could make the check engine light come on in a car, it might be another underlying problem. Put a list of all equipment and pictures would help as well. It might be something dealing with the wiring. 2001 Saturn L200-Sony MEX-BT4100PFRONT STAGE:- (4) Crescendo PWX 6- Cadence XA250.2SUB STAGE:-Fi Audio BL 15 (Sealed Off)-Crescendo BC2kELECTRICAL:- Singer 240A alt - XS Power D3400- SkyHigh OFC power/speaker wire- Big 3 with SkyHigh 0gaugeBuild Log: Click HereScores: 146.5db @ 29hz Outlaw
RainStryke Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Sounds like you dropped down in impedance and your amplifier is pulling too much power for your electrical.
ChevyBoy95 Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Sounds like you dropped down in impedance and your amplifier is pulling too much power for your electrical. probably this. There is nothing a sub can do on its own to cause an engine light to come on. Only reasonable thing with the tiny info you have given us is that somewhere you wired incorrectly causing the light to trip, or you wired your sub lower that the previous one, therefore more power draw, amperage draw, and lower voltage. poorfish88 Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Depends on how low the voltage goes ECM tracks fuel pump voltage just to name one of many it tracks. If he's dipping crazy voltage, who knows..... WHAT AMPS DO YOU HAVE? what size, length, and brand wire to the back do you have and any battery upgrades? Do you have a DMM to check the voltage when you are cranking the system pretty good.. I'm interested in how low the volts are dropping.

I like your thinking but many a noob, ohh I put a bigger sub in, got turn them gains up for power.
