Triticum Agricolam
Yup you got it right. You can enter in 810 cm2 for the Sd, it may not be exactly right, but it should be pretty close and it will allow WinISD to calculate some stuff more correctly. When designing bandpass boxes, my suggestion is to forget anything you heard about "ratios", just make the chamber sizes what they need to be to get the frequency response you want. You said you want good output from the high 20s up to high 30's at least, that should be easily doable. My suggestion would be to make the rear chamber 4 cubes. That will make its resonant frequency 40 Hz, you can then tune your front chamber to 40 hz as well. The front chamber size it up to you to determine. The smaller you make it, the more even response you will get over a larger frequency range. The larger you make it the louder you will get around 40 Hz, but the output will become more peaky. You will be able to see this very easily in WinISD. I like even response so I'd probably make it 4 cubes, but play around with the number and see what looks good to you. If at all possible I would strongly suggest you make it so the port is removeable or otherwise adjustable. Port tunings don't always end up coming out exactly as intended and even if it does you may want to adjust things a bit to change how the box sounds. This is very important with bandpass boxes. dsw422
thanks so much triticum. So i adjusted the port to 7x22 (154sqin), Rear chamber to 4 cuft, and front to 6 cuft. Gives me output from 28hz to 58hz and peaking at 40hz. once the build begins, ill be sure upload pics of progress.. I think i may seal off the trunk completely too. hopefully more spl.. Again, i cant thank you enough. 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
Joe X
Double layer the baffle and brace it to the bottom also see if you can mount the motors in the front chamber, if you wire wrong the subs that's going to be a problem so take care with that. dsw422
quick question.. what is (or do u think) the subwoofer displacement for these subs?? i ask b/c my ported section gross area is 7.59cu ft. The section of the port that is inside is 1 cuft. so i only have .59 cuft for displacement.. should i add any more area to compensate for displacement thats more than .59?? 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
Triticum Agricolam
I doubt the displacement of those two subs is more than .59 cubes. I wouldn't worry about it.
