Ahmed Johnson Posted June 24, 2015 Report Posted June 24, 2015 I wouldnt be surprised if the DC puts out more than a crescendo but I have a 3500 at .5 ohm and the only time I see 12 volts is when the clipping light is solid.
Ahmed Johnson Posted June 24, 2015 Report Posted June 24, 2015 A 275a singer, an O'Reilley agm upfront. In the trunk I have a sprinter agm and a werker.
brent379 Posted June 24, 2015 Author Report Posted June 24, 2015 Do you think you may be holding better voltage due to the fact that your amp is rated at a lower voltage then mine??? I'm guessing you have a bc3500???
Ahmed Johnson Posted June 24, 2015 Report Posted June 24, 2015 Yes and I have a ground from front to back too.
brent379 Posted June 24, 2015 Author Report Posted June 24, 2015 I actually made a jumper to go from my front batt to back just to see if it made a difference, and it didn't. Not even 1/10th of a volt. I'm still really considering adding one anyway just for piece of mind
illestVillian Posted July 5, 2015 Report Posted July 5, 2015 Did you ever figure it out? I'm having the same problem.
brent379 Posted July 5, 2015 Author Report Posted July 5, 2015 I have not actually pin pointed the problem. But after some clamp testing I have found out that at 36hz my amp was drawing 350a..I originally stared at 40hz and was drawing 300a, and every frequency I went down I drawed about 10 more amps. So I played that 36hz tone and clamped my alt. Only got 65a out of it with no ac on, holding rpms at about 2300. I didn't have a separate Meter reading voltage at the same time, but I know that my voltage was about 12.0 even. I called dc power and the guy was certain that im slipping my belt, I understand what he is saying, but im sorry, there is no way that belt is slipping. I have NO black residue on the front of the alt, you don't hear the belt actually slip, and the bottom of the belt is not glazed. And if it was slipping that bad I would have shredded a belt by now. Couldn't tell you how many times I've been doing 80 on the freeway full tilt. If it was slipping that belt would get so hot I would have black residue somewhere, or no belt at all. But I'm adding an idler pulley anyway to make 150% sure I don't have a belt wrap issue. I'm going to be taking the alt off and having it bench tested to see if it's good or not. Just have to find a place in town to do it. But, I sold my 3.5k...was going to buy something else but that deal fell thru so as of right now I'm fucked lol.
