BannisterEc
Hi I recently purchased a set of Sundown x 15 D4s which are in my current box of 200liters and they play like no other subs I've owned absolutely amazing but my boot/trunk door is flexing out where it never ever flexed at all before! I would like to get help with another design so they can play to their full potential. My max WIDTH between wheels is 92cm/36.22 inches X HEIGHT 55cm/21.65 inches X LENGTH 78cm/30.70 inches. Any help would be kindly appreciated!!! The amp it will run off is a Taramps Hd8000 2 ohm which makes 5256W RMS@ 12,6 VDC and 6305W RMS @ 13,8 VDC at 4 ohms according to the manufacturer. Was looking at something like this perhaps; http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv87/Rattex250/1614472_781854635264681_2390701259234516119_o.jpg Here is the current box; http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv87/Rattex250/DSC_1061.jpg http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv87/Rattex250/DSC_1060.jpg
Cj Kumz
What is you old box tuned to?? And what tuning would you want your new 1 tuned to? Also having the port facing backwards like your old box will work best for a car like yours Vw Polo Pioneer Deh-6050UB Sundown Saz-3500d DD Audio 9500 15'' 5.5 cubic feet box with 10 inch port @ 38hz I live to hear the Bass drop!!! BannisterEc
The old box is 32hz but I think its 40 liters less then recommended volume and now with the Sundowns in the volume should of gone way up. I found with the old subs on test tones the box peaked at 37hz and on music was 47hz. I would like the box to be be 30hz unless it may damage the subs? Joe X
Here is a suggestion simplest to build as possible, 1.8 cm wood thickness, power: to subs rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 15 cm , figure is just an assembly guide, bracing is 1 1/2" wooden dowel rods:
BannisterEc
Thanks Joe X looks amazing. Subs are getting hot in the current box
Cj Kumz
Getting hot is a must due to you overpowering them. Or it could be due to you clipping the subs maybe. How did you set your gains and do you have enough electrical to support over 5000rms? If not voltage drop could be causing clipping Vw Polo Pioneer Deh-6050UB Sundown Saz-3500d DD Audio 9500 15'' 5.5 cubic feet box with 10 inch port @ 38hz I live to hear the Bass drop!!! BannisterEc
Voltage is dropping to the 11volt range, so im going to put a deepcycle in the engine bay as I have a stock 35ah infront. The sub on the one side is getting hot but the port is between both subs so its not that either
BannisterEc
Joe X where would you suggest the subsonic should be for the new design
Joe X
As stated above, actually is the same as with the older box, the subsonic prevents mechanical failure in ported enclosures and probably thermal failure at very low frequencies but will do nothing upwards in frequency,
