Question About Resin

Wondering can I put resin on the outside of a box, just resin not kitty hair or mat, I wanna make it look smooth and not soak up all the paint...gonna paint the box the color of my dad's caddy. This is for him btw, he can get resin at work for "free" 55gal drum, think it would be worth it?

Would it crack if no glass is used? Any help is appreciated.

you'd have to be really crafty with it to keep it all level. it'll be smooth...but it may have waves in the resin itself.

Thats what I was afraid of my dad hates glass, but he wants it flat without waves....I told him it was gonna be difficult.

Get it!!! and do it!!! Just take your time , do one side at a time and 1 layer at a time but if you do get drips, don't worry sand it down, witha semi rough , and then sand it again with a 150 - 200 grit. you can make it real smooth like a glass table.

You could just prime the box so it won't soak up the paint.

Crack!?!????? why ??? are you doing to fast? too much hardner? I did my S/M 1-2 bandpast and it didn't crack, it was a little wavy because i had to do it upside down, but the more you put on the more you can sand down. My team mate did his and painted red and it came out looking like tits, of course his box was smaller and he can flip his and do his flat, so less sanding but it didn't crack, it's been 8 months and still nothing.

Oh yeah, i fixed the wavy part witch i called the high spots, i just waited until it was dry and then did it again to fill in the lows, and then i sanded it, it take time but what a difference, in apperance and sound.
