feathered1iron Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 Hey guys, so i was on my way into work this morning and subs/amp (2 Rf t1d412s and rf t1500 on stock components ect.) stopped working. Looked under the hood and looks like fuse on RF wiring that goes to battery is blow . I heard this is pretty common? any idea why? I have not done big 3 or upgraded alt or bat. Thanks! Rich Schenk Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 How big of a fuse was it and what is ur current draw. Check wire for exposed wire touching metal. feathered1iron Posted September 1, 2015 Author Report Posted September 1, 2015 It says 100A. Its the one that goes into the clear plastic RF amp wiring kit that goes to Red battery terminal. The shop went with 4AWG should they have went with 1/0 AWG instead? firebirdude Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 That amp has 4awg inputs. So provided that's the only amp in your car, 4awg should be sufficient, so says Rockford. Using CCA wire? Or full OFC? Other than that, yeah, check for shorts.
firebirdude Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 And do NOT put anything larger than the 100A in there. Unless you'd rather burn the car to the frame instead of blowing the fuse? Maybe? Post video plz...
feathered1iron Posted September 1, 2015 Author Report Posted September 1, 2015 Could the RVC regulated voltage control thing that flicuates volts to save on gas ect have caused the fuse to blow? Just a thought Current Setup: Mechman 370a Alt 4 pin DC Triple Alt Bracket XS3400 Battery 4 Ampere 6.5 components 4 tweets Ampere 150.4 way Norcal SS Custom 3/5 Lowering Kit with 3inch Lower Control Arms DG Roll Pan LED License Plate Lights
Jeff4661 Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 Could the RVC regulated voltage control thing that flicuates volts to save on gas ect have caused the fuse to blow? Just a thought I would tend to think no.. Bcs all that does is adjust the voltage.. Drops it down to 12.8 iirc Amperage blows fuses not voltage Current build 05 Yukon SLT http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/195350-jeffs-05-yukong-wall-build/

feathered1iron Posted September 2, 2015 Author Report Posted September 2, 2015 Ok replaced the fuse and will see if blows again, maybe just. reedal Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 Before just replacing the fuse, did you check to see if you had a loose connection that maybe shorted out somewhere?
