poorfish88 Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 200 amp fuse is recommended by Rockford. When I had that same amp I ran 0 gauge and then ran a splitter at the amps.
feathered1iron Posted September 9, 2015 Author Report Posted September 9, 2015 So they replaced the 100a fuse with a 200 and added a regulator and it blew again today. I also noticed that on a few songs i played the bass seemed to not sync correcty with the music and sometimes on the same song it seemed to hit hard then other times not as hard. Ground? Bob Tzimenatos Posted September 9, 2015 Report Posted September 9, 2015 A shop installed this system? Take it back to them and have someone that knows what they are doing troubleshoot it. Blowing 200A fuses? Something ain't right.
feathered1iron Posted September 10, 2015 Author Report Posted September 10, 2015 Yea i am taking it back to them today. feathered1iron Posted September 13, 2015 Author Report Posted September 13, 2015 Update: They traced all of the wiring and could not find anything wrong. They ran a voltage meter and saw that at some points while playing the subs/amp it would drop below 10 and cause the fuse to blow. They talked to their Rockford rep and be recommend upgrading my alternator. Does this seem right? Maybe the alternator is failing? I do notice that the headlights dim in and out when I'm playing it. I am thinking about going with the Mechman 370 and an excess 3400 battery. afrakes Posted September 14, 2015 Report Posted September 14, 2015 If your voltage is getting that low then yes you need an alternator. Either that or multiple batts but an alt is by far the better choice imo. I doubt your current alt went bad, you are just drawing more current to your amplifier than your stock electrical system can provide, overloading the alt/battery and causing your voltage to drop. You never want your voltage below 11v, 12v is even safer tho. Vehicle: 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD WT Head Unit: Pioneer DEH- Mids/Highs: Focal Integration ISC 165’s (front) Subs/Amps: TBD
