aron304 Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 Hello, this is my first post on the forumns because i got my first at least in my opinion high end/comp level subwoofer. I own a cadence s2w8-s4. it is powered by a pioneer gm-d8601 amplifier at a 2 ohm load (coils are in parralel). the amp is rated for 500 watts rms. i did a test with the amp with a 50hz 0db track and i was getting an output voltage of 30 (30 volts divided by 2 ohms=15 amps) 30 volts x 15 amps is 450 watts. the box has the dimensions of Width 12-1/2" x Height 10-1/2" x Depth 16-1/2". I know the box is too small i just threw it in there for now till i get a custom box for it. so far it has been slamming for me. I was wondering if anyone has ever owned their subwoofers before? I know people like cadence amps, but i havent heard much about there subs. if people are interested in checking out what i did. (warning this is some 20 year old kid who hasn't really installed it properly since the box is held with a bungee cable)

FYI, just measuring the output voltage of your amp and using ohms law doesn't really tell you how much power you are getting. The impedance of your subs is almost never at their DC resistance, it pretty much always higher, also since we are dealing with AC current, you have to consider the power factor. But again, if you are happy with how it's all working, that's all that matters. bmwking Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 lol i had a 1990 storm! this is 12 years ago, but i had an 1800 watt power acoustik fire n ice amp (mounted to the back of the back seat and took up every inch of it) and two punch HE2s sealed pointed at the rear glass. i remember it being pretty loud. it ripped the hatch latch out of the sheet metal and i secured the hatch down with 14 3" self tapping bolts. sorry to hijack, i just never thought id see another pimped out storm

I know it isn't an exact, but it gives me a ballpark number so i know im getting about what its rated for (for instance a pyle subwoofer would have blown that is rated for 500 watts). yea im happy with it. i got a new box for it and ill share the video of it here. new box is 13x13x19 with a slot port of i think 1x12x16 but i could be wrong i don't remember the exact specs. Im really happy with it. it has a great frequency responce and hits great. EDIT: i checked it is 1x11.5x16 for the port. also its tuned to 40hz and with the sub in has 1 cubic foot.

Their customer support got shitty with me one time years back and I've avoided them and refused to recommend their products since. Keep in mind that I work in customer service and I know damn well I was nothing but pleasant with them. So fuck them right in their arrogant assholes.
