Maboii Posted October 13, 2015 Report Posted October 13, 2015 hey guys I got a single 12 inch American bass HD12D1 and Im building a 3.3 cu.ft. box (no driver) for it and I want it tuned to 30hz with an aero port but the calculators im using gives me a different number everytime.. I used woofer box calculator and another one off the Google Play Store ( using an android phone ).. anyway I also need help in choosing between a 4" , 6" or an 8" port... any input would be appreciated!!

bman8891 Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 Dd audio's website has a fantastic tutorial on how to design a box for a sub. Those specs they use for port area and internal volume are meant specifically for their woofers but they do translate well to others. If nothing else its a great start to understanding box design. And i also found the "free box calculator" websites and apps to be useless. Ive always had better luck crunching the numbers myself.

Add port volume to the net volume = total box volume. You choose 2 dimensions to find the third. (All those dimensions are internal.)
