andrewlicata1993 Posted November 8, 2015 Author Report Posted November 8, 2015 Just as a heads up, manufacturers overstate power wire too. That doesn't look like true 4 gauge at all. Loose connection or the wire was too small. Either will increase resistance/heat until failure. I want to say the wire says +5 awg so you may be right.
andrewlicata1993 Posted November 10, 2015 Author Report Posted November 10, 2015 You could make something taller than your current box but that's it, do you know the specs of that box? Do you think you could design me a box? with the max specs o 30x30x16? around 34 hz
Joe X Posted November 11, 2015 Report Posted November 11, 2015 So here is a suggestion within your max dims, power: to subs rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 5 1/4", figure is just an assembly guide:NOTE: If building outside you need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit in it's way inside.
andrewlicata1993 Posted November 12, 2015 Author Report Posted November 12, 2015 So ive got all the peices cut. And for my first box i have already learned a lot. I have a lot of sanding to do because well sense its my first box my cuts wernt as perfect as i would of like them to be. So tomorrow i plan on spending the after noon sanding all the sides down so they peices will sit flush. I have some extra wood left. Should I make any bracings or 45s? I also bought some liquid nail to make sure i get a nice good seal when assembling. Should have pictures up tomorrow after noon.
Joe X Posted November 12, 2015 Report Posted November 12, 2015 Well you are pretty fast, you can do 45s if you want specially to cover any air leaks you may find, brace at will just keep bracing low displacement so the the box specs don't shift, if you want post some pics of your build progress so people can point out any building issues, one nice thing about the center port is that it doubles as bracing.

Yeah ive noticed this. I got some more work done, boy do i wish i would have had cleaner cuts ahaha. Sanding my life away. Hopefully i can finish peicing it all together today after work.
andrewlicata1993 Posted November 13, 2015 Author Report Posted November 13, 2015 So this is where im at so far im most worries about the top being sanded flush so when i put the top of the box on all the boards it as flush as possible with the top board. Any recomandations for sanding? Useing 3/4 birch.
Triticum Agricolam Posted November 13, 2015 Report Posted November 13, 2015 Do you have a router? If you do cut the top board 1/8" oversize in both dimensions and you can use a flush trim bit to trim it down perfectly even with the sides.
