Low pass crossover issue

4 volt thread got locked - figured it was going to happen sooner or later lol but anyways i have a question regarding low pass filter settings.

Heres my issue/question:

my HU (pioneer avh x4600bt) in the subwoofer section has low pass filter settings. The choices are 50, 63, 80, 100 and 125.. Note there is no OFF option so i am forced to choose. I usually choose 80.

Now on my amp it goes from 35 to 250hz...

so my question is if i select 80hz on the HU, do i also match it to 80 on the amps low pass OR do i select the max setting on the amp 250hz and 80hz on the HU? I really wish i could use one or the other but the damn HU has no OFF option for the LPF (it does for the HPF though).

im in learning mode so please keep the sarcasm or possible trolling type stuff at a minimum. Thanks

Try different things and see what happens. You won't break anything with this.

I'm guessing your HU doesn't tell you or let you adjust the slope of the LPF either? I would set the HU x-over as high a possible since you cannot turn it off (which I do not believe by the way, read your manual!) then use a SMD CC1 and set the x-over on the amp side, just so I could be absolutely sure that my sub(s) were only getting the frequency range I wanted them to reproduce.

personally ive always used lpf settings on HU and turned freq up on the amp. works better on some HU than on others. if the lpf function works right on the HU whatever you set it at should be the highest freq sent to the subs.

p.s. glad we didnt scare you off. we're all here to help, and i hope you can see that. the other thread got just a wee bit out of hand. lol
