_paralyzed_
It's that time in the audio world again where people are making giant subwoofers. As long as the T/S parameters are known will current box software be able to model these gargantuan subs?Any speculation as to box size?I'm thinking 60 cubic feet tuned to -10 Hz. lolSeriously though- any guesses as to what size box a 36" behemoth bass driver requires? Joe X
Of course you could model such a sub, do you have parameters for the one you are interested in?
Triticum Agricolam
Well a 36" sub is going to have roughly the same cone area as four 18"s subs, so box size should be roughly 4 times what a single 18" is. So 25 - 40 cubes maybe? No. The Company "DS18" have just come out with a 32" and 36" sub. I was just curious.
Joe X
You can use Richard Small's estimate for some 36" sub expected params, say; Xmax = 33mm Sd = 5250 cm^2 and Fb = 34Hz to get port area for it: Sv = 0.8*(34*0,5250*0.033) = ~542 square inches. Then for an estimate one could use the common 16:1 port area to net vol ratio to very roughly figure expected net vol:542/16 = ~34 cubic feet net volume. _paralyzed_
I think I could fit two of them in the back of my van!
