My first custom install ever... haha :)

I spent about an hour playing with double sided tape and locations, constantly running time alignment to figure out the best sounding location. This is what I came up with. I left the hole small, in case the dd tweeters are smaller, but we'll see. If anything I have a second set of pillars to work with.

The suspense is killing me. Hopefully this monster of a box is finished before christmas. The inside unstained portion is getting a lighter stain color. I have my 18" DD bar grill on order. I figured I'd try something different with amp mounting and decided to mount them on these:

I've also come to a conclusion on electrical. Under the hood I'm going with a xs d3400 and in the back a single xs xp3000. I'm going to run a singer alt, 270amp or better, depending on which amp(s) I choose for mids/highs. I've also chosen to use the dd dampener for my entire vehicle, so I'll be buying 120 sq ft of it along with the electrical stuff at tax time.

Not quite finished, but that's ok. I like good quality work over rushed stuff.

I finally was able to make some progress today. It might not seem like a lot to you guys, but I feel pretty good on how much I got done today. I pretty much gutted my entire interior so I can finally run the wires under the carpet. I'll leave the car apart because it's pretty much ready to get deadened and new wires ran for the extra battery. I'll also be able to drill a hole into my front doors since those panels are off as well so I can run some thicker speaker wire to the new speakers.

This was a little earlier in my progress, as all the door panels are off too. You can see the huge mess of wires that I rigged up to make sure everything worked and had at least something to listen to. With all this holiday time off I'm really happy I get to finally clean up some.

As you can see, looks a hell of a lot better. I'm actually having fun now that I have time to spend working on my car. 60 Degrees and sunny out on Christmas in Indiana. I bet my family in Alaska hates me right about now.

Look what I was finally able to pick up Wednesday night! It was too late to really do anything, and I needed to buy a soldering gun and a few more supplies to make it all work.

All of my extra wire was either 4awg or 14awg. I went with the 4awg and went for direct connect.

Here's my temporary matching rack.

Got paid yesterday so I got to work on getting supplies and what not. This is the second electronic tool I've bought for my collection, after the drill.

20151231_105956.jpg

Next step was to ruin the box. Drilled it as small as I could and then put some clear silicone around it to help seal the holes.

20151231_114017.jpg

Next up was start drilling holes for the amp rack. He made it a little smaller then I had hoped, so this is for sure not the finished product. I still wanted it to look clean. Not shown here are all the holes on the bottom for wire running. I didn't get a chance to drill the mounting bolt hole yet and the holes for the power wires and ground. Once the new batteries are put in and new wires are run, and the deadener gets put in, I'll go ahead and finish everything up then.

I ended up just elevating one amp due to space restrictions. That way I could run wires underneath one and still connect wires to the other.

Lastly, it took 3 of us to carry this 200lb monster into my trailblazer, LOL. I'm still waiting on the decals and the 18" bar grill. DD accidentally sent a 15" grill. Should help it look not so plain.

Once again, it took me all day to get everything the way I liked it, so once I got it into the car, I was restricted with light. Don't mind the rca wires and power/ground wires just hanging off to the side, I didn't have enough time to run them under the carpet and make it look good cause my gf wanted to hit up the liquor store and get something for new years eve.

First video is 19 or 20hz at half volume

Second video shows off my stock electrical, again at a little over half volume, it is definately screaming for more power.

^thanks.

Well, today was nice out so I decided go hard or go home. Even if it is temporary, I want it to look nice.

The one fan is probably overkill right now and/or not doing anything since the amp isn't elevated, but I decided to put one in right now anyways to see how it holds up to vibration. Looks way better IMO
