Where to buy proper wood

I know where I get proper wood....

 sorry couldn't resist such a great opportunity

I like MDF, but not the stuff Home Depot carries, thats where MDF gets a bad rep. Hit up a local lumber yard and ask for Plum Creek Super Refined MDF. IT's so awesome I could cry.

The birch at Lowe's is fine to use. I find it's better than Home Depot. You don't really need 11/13-ply baltic birch, just might need a $2 dowel or two.

"Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand.

Birch, Oak, Maple any of these plywoods are not better then one of the others. It is what the inner plys are made from just because it says birch you are getting a poplar core plywood with voids. Look for a Cabinet supply house or a local Weyehauser Distributer they will have MDF in thickness from .75 to 1.5 and plywood with 11 to 13 ply. look for a plywood manufactured in Poland or Russia or Sweden they use alot of plys. Or you can use solid hardwood and make a nice box.
