How well do ar's function when they are that short?

I know I've read something about them not liking short gas systems.

I know very little about the subject so forgive my ignorance, just curious about it.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

The 9mm in the other build log is blow back, so there is no gas system involved and the only issues come when you use to light a buffer. The 9mm is more abusive to parts than the 5.56.

Now when it comes to 5.56, since it has such a short gas system the bullet has a short dwell time in the barrel. Dwell time is the amount of time the bullet stays in the barrel building gas pressure. Some short gas system guns then short cycle due to lack of pressure. Some on the other hand are OVER pressurized and spit gas back through the ejection port and slam the bolt rearward very hard. Over or under pressure is regulated by gas port size. so the gas port is the key. Managing over or under is done with adjustable gas blocks and different weight buffers.

This is a real short explanation on something that can take pages btw
