Clownrock95 Posted January 23, 2016 Report Posted January 23, 2016 Intellecaps from monster cable Are they anything special or are they just normal caps with a shiny name I bought a used setup (3 10" mtx 6000 thunders and a jl 500/1) that had the cap hooked up I have bypassed it ATM prolly won't use it unless it's special (or more likely at all) so I figured a I would ask y'all about it
Bayuk89 Posted January 31, 2016 Report Posted January 31, 2016 I personally dont use capacitors, i rather put the money towards a good battery but to each its own. Sonic electronix did a cutaway of 3 different capacitors and basiclly said its pointless and its better to invest in better battery or ALT and i agree with them.
3vil Posted January 31, 2016 Report Posted January 31, 2016 I'm on the side of the fence that believes normal caps do more harm than good to your electrical system. However, ultra/super cap banks are a whole nother story.

If u just have that one intellecap i would just sell it and use the money for better battery. i agree with 3vil, super cap banks are different than what u have (you only have one cap) so if it was my equipment i would sell the cap, a better battery with a higher aH (ampere hour) rating will be better upgrade than that single fosgate cap IMO.
Clownrock95 Posted January 31, 2016 Author Report Posted January 31, 2016 To clarify I know most caps are small cheap caps in a big can filled with anything from saw dust to plaster and most caps are useless I was asking if the intelle in intellecap actually ment anything or if it was just a shiny name By bypassed I mean I essentially have it disconnected (I'm useimg the positive terminal as a d-block)

However, ultra/super cap banks are a whole nother story. Tony D proved that if they are wired in as close as possible to your amplifier they actually do make an improvement in power output. This was with high quality caps. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
