Chrisj10012 Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 I have a 10in RF p1 @4ohm that I use for my bedroom TV setup. I gave a friend the box I was using because no local stores had a 10in ported box in stock and he needed one. Before I was just using a Rockford box that's around 6 years old now so I'm gonna go with a custom box this time. I was hoping someone could help with giving me dimensions/design. I'm using a Kenwood powered-sub woofer from a home theater system and bypassing the sub woofer in the enclosure to my own. It's rated at 100 watts which is more than enough for what I use it for. Length and Width aren't an issue as I have the whole underside of my bed for room however Height is restricted and the shorter the better. 12 inches would be good if that is possible. I'm not quite sure what the tuning should be. It will be used for movies, TV shows, and music. Rockford's recommended for the sub is 37hz in a ported box but I'm open to suggestions. Volume I would like at 1.50 cubic feet. I want it to be bigger than the recommended because I plan on taking the amp off the Kenwood enclosure and putting it on this new one. Summary: 10in RF P1 @4ohm, 1.50 cu. ft., slot ported, (tuning unsure yet, maybe 37hz), max height of 12 inches(although that is normal for 10in subs anyway), Width and length unrestricted, on around 100 watts If I missed anything or you have questions let me know.

Also if you use it for movies you will want better low end extension than what you need for music. 20 hz extension is a nice goal, but you aren't going to get that with a single 10, still the closer you can get the better. This all means you are going to want a bigger box with a lower tune than what you would use in a car. For your sub I'd recommend 3 cubes tuned to 23 Hz. That size of box will lower the mechanical power handling of the sub, but if you are only going to give it 100 watts you shouldn't have any problems. Yeah if I was going for a living room setup I would go bigger and better but this is just for my bedroom so it doesn't have to be much.

Now I need a new amp though... the one I'm using doesn't go down quite far enough in hz... Doesn't matter enough to make a difference but it's always nice to have the option

melly Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Hey guys I am I the of building a car audio system, I have two audiopipe Q12 inch subwoofers, dual 4..2000watts, 1000rms each. I am a basshead kinda guy..so I am thinking of running an epicenter audio control with a subsonic chip at 20hz. But im not sure about the box size and specs. Is there anyone that can assist me please..thanks in advance
