Hey

Im going to be running a 2krms amp + around 300-500 rms for mids/highs

i have an agm under the hood and will have a g31 in the back..

i have a stock 110amp alt

for how long will my alt be able to handle this set up? is it absolutely necessary to upgrade to a HO for this set up? Can i get by with what i got?

thank you

At full tilt, maybe a song or two as long as you don't come to a stop, lol

ah serious? so looks like i gotta play conservatively , go easy on the bass knob and volume, and recharge the trunk batt weekly..

Just watch your volt meter, try not to dip below the resting voltage of your battery for too long and it wont be so hard on your alt. if your wired to 1ohm depending on subs and box you will be rising 2.5ohm or better.

It will work just keep an eye on the volt meter in the dash. (if you don't have one then get one) when the needle starts bouncing with the bass then turn it down a little until bouncing stops. This will keep your alt at max output and will kill it sooner than normal. In the early 90s I had to replace my alt about every year. I had an alt with lifetime warranty and they lost money on me. lol

sorry for the n00b style but what does "rising 2.5ohm or better" mean? and yes i will be wired at 1 ohm on a crescendo amp

i have a volt meter on my tablet, there is no needle so i can not tell if there is any bouncing going on and its not the most accurate but gets the job done.. with my old set up which was 1200 rms or so.. it digital lcd meter would go down to the mid 13s sometimes a little lower then once i stopped the music or it went to an area where there was no bass it would go right back up to 14.1 or 14.2

with my new set up - i have no idea what will happen..

Just member that when voltage goes down the amperage goes up as the amp tries to maintain output. This can be hard on an amp and charging system that can't keep up and hard on batteries with a high charge and discharge cycle. Putting it on charge will help. Next year when your alt dies then you can get an HO.

is it safe to say a good number to stay above on an average basis is 13.4 area?

is i dip below that on a constant basis - i should be worried/concerned?

A slight dip is ok just stay above 12v.
