Rockford T1d212

I have a single T1d212 powered by a Rockford P1000x1 in a box that was given to me internal bv is 4.34 with a round port that is 4in diameter 4 1/2'' long which if i did my math correctly make it tuned to about 32 hertz. i have a few concerns, first is how much is the max air space that woofer should have? Will the box that i have it in hurt the woofer? What would you guys recommend a good box size be, not going off of Rockfords recommended box size because that thing is tiny and i would like to hit more then 40 hertz. Thanks in advance

2.5cubes tuned anywhere from 34-28hz depending on what you like should do nicely.... Your box is big but that's fine. You can free air a woofer and not hurt it so a big box won't hurt it either. That 4" port you have is wrong. I'm not on my computer so I don't have Torres box calc to type in the numbers but download Torres box calc and start playing with numbers

OK first their recommended box size and tune will hit more than 40 hz, and it is not tiny it's about normal size for a 12".

I would do more port area but 2.25cuft tuned to your liking is what I would suggest.

A larger enclosure will give you a big peak in your response meaning it will likely sound like sit but would be louder at that frequncy.

If the enclosure is way too large and you for sure could damage the woofer.

Could you post your enclosure specs?

I used The12volt.com Calculator to get the numbers I got for the port, ill look into downloading that other calculator

the box is w-33.62 h-16.5625 d-17

Round port 4inch diameter 4.5 inches long

I would have thought the tune would have been way off but here is what torres says when I plug in your dimensions

I would definitely build a box to the 2.5cuft spec after displacements and look in to more port either multiple rounds, square or slot port
