dthomas
I have a singer 270 alt with the blue transpo adj regulator. I have read on the forums that it can work with 2 alts. I have a excessive amperage 300 with a internal regulator. So I opened the cover and removed the internal regulator. I then spliced into the wire going to the singer and hooked it up the same way to the EA. With both hooked up I get no charge from either. If I unhook the ea the singer charges. Wondering if I missed something when removing the internal regulator. I just unbolted it and desoldered the one connection. Any ideas?

dthomas
After doing some more reading it looks like I may need a negative going to the ea somewhere. The singer has a ground connection.
dthomas
After spending hours researching I think I figured it out. On the singer the bolt to attach the field wire had a plastic washer I believe to not ground the field wire since the bolt tightens into threads on the housing. I did not have one on the EA. To verify my idea I grabbed the internal regulator and sure enough it is just plastic on the top where the bolt tightens down, with a contact on the bottom. Going to retry tonight. Bump4life
i highly recommend using 1 blue box regulator per alt. IT becomes less reliable when you run more than 1 alt on them. all you should need is the transpo on a relay that turns on with the car. then both alts gorunded to car, and a positve field wire going from regulator to one side of the rotor contact. Thanks for the advice. I may pickup a 2nd one after getting this working. I have the regulator hooked up with a relay, and it runs the singer just fine. But it wouldn't run the EA by itself. So hopefully tonight when I put that plastic washer in, it will start working. I was pretty frustrated last night so I took them both out and just started going over everything. dthomas
Last thing I did was make sure the singer was still working so I think the transpo is ok.
dthomas
The missing plastic washer was the problem. Now both individually work fine and both together work fine.
