fuse rating

ok so im in the process of a rebuild. i did not fuse my amp previously. i know this is not a good thing. i have an ns1v2. manual says it needs a 650amp fuse. so first question do i just put my fuses under the hood or more off the battery bank in the bed of my truck.

second, how do i get the reccomended 650amps? biggest ive found is 500.

i have a TM fuse block on the way (running 3runs SHCA 2/0) from front to back d3400 upfront and 4xp3000in the back. any help will be appreciated

NS1 v2 has triple power/ground inputs correct?

You want fuses close to amp, so between amp and back batt bank. But your line(s) from front batt/alt to rear batts should also be fused for safety sake.

The 650A fuse rating is cumulative, not per line, so if you did one 200A fuse per positive line(3t total), you'd get 600A.

ANL fuses are kind of a "slower" blow fuse, that can operate at their rated current limit and withstand short periods(bursts) above, so you should be fine or even a smidge on the safer side at 600.

I've run amps requiring 250/300A fuses on a single 200A fuse and never blown one.

Hope that helps.

Ok so up front I can just put 3 200 amp one on each run of 2/0.and in the back I need to put a 200 on each input to the amp correct? So I need another fuse flock for 6? I'm going to run dual inputs on the amp. Thats my understanding is this correct? Thank you for the reply!

If you have a rear battery bank, then you want 2 fuses on each run between your front + (Alt/batt) and your rear bank +. You want the fuse to be within 18" of each positive source ideally. Those can be rated to the wire size/length. Then from your rear batteries you would want 6 fuses, one for each positive run into your dual inputs. You can either user six 120a fuses or higher up to the capacity of the individual cable.
