Sub Box question

How accurate is the sub box calculator on the12volt website? reason im asking is i have had pretty good luck with designing basic boxes on there. but i am currently walling off my buddies car. well more like a sealed off trunk build. and im having doubts about the port.

dimensions of the box are

Width: 29"

Height: 13.5"

Depth: 24"

Wood: 1" mdf

Now for the port he wanted to have it tuned around 38hz. so according to the site the port is 11" tall 1.5" wide and like 4" long. dont remember the exact measurements on the length. but we got it all cnc cut and i wanted to make sure before continue. its for 2 alpine type R 12s on 2 rockford BD1000. after displacement the box will be about 2.8 cubic feet i believe

The area of the port sounds small to me. This would make the port look short. Also I think 38hz is a little higher than most people would tune to. This will make it look shorter too.

im just doing what he asked, my car was tuned to 35hz he liked it but wanted to go to 38hz. but we can adjust the port tuning before i 100% complete the box incase he wants it tuned lower

You will need some 60 square inches of port area, two cubic feet net per driver for the old 1243s or 1.5 to 2 net for the new ones, also you don't need 1" MDF for those subs, 0.75" would be fine and your box would be quite a bit lighter and cheaper to build.
