blazingbasshead Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 Can someone help me out? I used to be able to play my sub all day without problems on 350RMS, then I wired my sub down to 2Ω so my amp was pulling 1300RMS, played my system like that for 2 hours while I was driving and the amp shut off, but it wasnt hot at all, so I went back up to 8Ω, 350RMS, system was playing just fine for about a month and then one day my bass gradually got quieter and quieter until the amp shut off, again, no overheating. Now I barely turn on the bass with my remote and the bass goes from loud to super quiet and then gone because the amp shuts off after like 5 or 6 seconds. My 90 amp alt is connected to my front battery which then goes to a 80 amp fuse then to my Shuriken 1250 Watt AGM Battery in the back, which then connects to my amp, amp is ground to the AGM which is ground to the chassis with the bolt that holds down my seatbelt in the back. Should I let the first battery connect directly to the AGM and fuse after the AGM then connect that to the amp to solve my problem?
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 What kind of amp? Sounds like it is toast. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
blazingbasshead Posted March 31, 2016 Author Report Posted March 31, 2016 Ah fuck, you think so? Its a Soundstream T1.4000DL Class D Mono Block that puts out 350RMS@8Ω 700RMS@4Ω 1300RMS@2Ω and 2000RMS@1Ω
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 Double check your power connections. Check the subs maybe one is going out. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
Bayuk89 Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 Its gotta be something internal, why are you rewiring your impedance so much ?
blazingbasshead Posted March 31, 2016 Author Report Posted March 31, 2016 All of my connections are solid, im only pushing one sub at the moment but its still good, Crescendo Forte Series 12" with Dual 4Ω Voice Coils. I was playing with the impedance because I had my sub on low power at first to break it in and then I lowered impedance so she could really get down and it sounded great until the time I made the amp turn off, so I lowered the power again so I wouldnt make my amp turn off after bassing out for so long. Only got a 90 amp alt.
MotorCityFats13 Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 either the amp is toast or your ground connection had gradually went to shit.... why do you like it at 350rms one day and then 1300rms on another day? ive never heard of breaking in a sub on 20% rated power.... this would not break in anything just make the process way longer
blazingbasshead Posted March 31, 2016 Author Report Posted March 31, 2016 I bought the Crescendo brand new and I was breaking it in at 350RMS for a couple weeks to loosen up the spider or whatever, I've always bought used subs so I've never broken one in before, dont know if it's totally necessary or not, just didnt wanna fuck up my new sub. So after a couple weeks of playing some bassy stuff, I pushed on the sub and it wasnt stiff as hell anymore, so I bumped it up to 1300RMS so it wouldn't be underpowered anymore and I could really see how loud she gets. How does a ground go bad? The seatbelt bolt screws right into the chassis.
Bayuk89 Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 Feel your power and ground wires, if they feel hot you prolly have a bad connection. If they feel normal you prolly have a bad componet in the amp going out. Which componet ? I have no clue other that what caps and mosfets look like. I dont know how to diag amplifer problems, never had any fail on me yet.
blazingbasshead Posted April 1, 2016 Author Report Posted April 1, 2016 Neither Amp or Wires has ever gotten hot. Amp probably is taking a crap on me, thats unfortunate, haven't had it for that long.
