HDS315 box

Okay so i'm awaiting delivery for a soundqubed HDS315 will be powering with a 1500 watt audiopipe

ive been recommended 4.5 cubes for the box plus 16 inches port area per cube coming out to 72 square inches. Im looking for knowledge on what to tune the box to and any other ideas. its going in a pt cruiser sub and port both facing the hatch. thanks all

33-35hz would be my recommendation.

that recommendation is so "stereo typical" i guess you can say. first there are two versions of that woofer which do you have? second what car is it going in and what are the are dimensions? what music you listen to and what frequency response you want? they can go in 3.5 cube tuned to 30 with 70in^2 of port area and do great or 4.5 tuned to 30 with 50in^2 and do great or 4 tuned to 40 with 50 in^2 and do great. its highly dependent on your vehicle and what you want it to excel at.

Generally a smaller box will give a flatter response and a bigger box will peak more at the tuning frequency. Most people tune in the low 30s but it depends on what kind of music you like.

Okay so it's going in a pt cruiser hatchback with a 1500 watt audio pipe

The dementions I have to work with are

Width 36 inches

Height 24 inches

Depth 18 inches

I listen to rap only. I like decaf but listen to regular radio too. I was thinking 4.5 with an L shaped port but am open to any ideas at all. I want to slam lows and get some high notes. Like 45-50 would be the highest I'd care to hear.the low lows are important to me. And I didn't know there were 2 versions. Mine is hds315 I guess new version. Just ordered it monday. Thanks

I have a pair of HDS315s tuned to 34hz and 4 cubes each. They are in separate boxes with L shaped slot ports. They slam the lows but some of the older rock music is missing the bass. All the newer stuff it just flat out slams. Decaf, rap, country, dance mix, metal, rock do great. Some classical music and some old recordings have a flutter down low that is not supposed to be audible. Nobody ever thought of having bass that low back in the day it seems. lol

Hell yeah. Do you know the specs on your box port sizing an stuff

I went to dbdynamixaudio.com for the design. Basically I ended up with a port area of 64 square inches to keep the port length reasonable. I didn't want it to go more than half way across the back to keep the port entrance as open as possible. Also when your port includes the wall, the wall will act to extend the port by 1/2 of the port width. I have a thread here somewhere of the box construction. I will try to find it for you.
