I wanted to use a rustoleum spray enamel as a finish color.. my question is , what primer should I use? I was thinking of using kilz oil primer or rustoleum spray primer.. I won't be painting any end grain. audiofanaticz Posted April 26, 2016 Report Posted April 26, 2016 You should be fine with the matching rustolium primer. If you plan to use clear, make sure the paint will accept it, I know the STOPS RUST line of paint will orange peal really bad if you use clear.

I'm building box for a friend. Box will hold 2 lanzar optidrive 15s (I kno ?). Will be in the back of a crown vic.. Food for thought, next time you paint the enclosure without the top on make sure you mask off the edges where you will be laying glue to secure the top so its not painted over. Wood glue likes and needs to soak into the wood for a good bond (hence why glues with a longer open or working time typically hold better because they really get to soak into the wood). When you paint those edges your preventing the glue to soak in and could possibly be a weak point.
