pandas Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 Hey guys new to the forum and new to car audio installation. Thanks in advance for any feedback. I'm wondering how I should set up my power runs for 2 amps that each take a different gauge power wire? I have: Mechman 240 alt 1 XS Power DS3400 Crescendo Bc2000D : takes 0 gauge power RF R300-4 : takes 4 gauge power Right now I have a single shca 1/0 power wire running from front to back where the amps are. Should I just use a distro block in the trunk or should I run a separate 4 gauge power wire to the battery up front for the RF R300? Thanks again

im_quagmire Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 If you are asking if you have to run wire from the front battery to the 4ga amp, then no. If you have a battery in your trunk, you can run your 4ga wire directly to rear battery. you can use a power block but make sure to fuse it. pandas Posted May 2, 2016 Author Report Posted May 2, 2016 I see a lot of fused blocks that splits a 1/0 to dual 4 gauge. Would that be bad for the crescendo amp which has a recommendation of 1/0 gauge or will the 4 gauge be enough for both amps?
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 If the amp has 1/0 then you would want to run 1/0 to it. Find a different block or use a block that takes ring terminal lugs. Also make sure to fuse the battery at the rear 1/0 that goes up front. In the event of an accident, a pinched cable will need to disconnect from both batteries. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
