Patrick Bateman Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 Dual reflex bandpass boxes have a ton of issues:1) Their phase response is *terrible.* If you like 'tight bass', don't build a dual reflex bandpass 2) They're very sensitive to errors. For instance, if you get the tuning off by even a few hertz, you'll lose the efficiency advantage that they're known for To me, their worst feature is that they won't work as the driver ages. Basically a driver's parameters changes as the driver gets older, so the carefully tuned dual reflex bandpass will stop working properly as time goes by. Bose stopped selling dual reflex bandpass ten years ago, likely for these reasons. They are now using transmission lines, which have better phase response, are easier to build, and are less prone to error.Tapped horns are nice too.
