Robert North Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 Starting to build a wall with 6 12" Rockford P2d412. 800watts each & 400rms. What im working with is 48" width, 34" high & 22" deep. I have plenty of air space. I want to tune to about 32-34hz. Ideas on the port. It'll be 1 big chamber with bracing. How much port area should i use. Any ideas?

Robert North Posted May 11, 2016 Author Report Posted May 11, 2016 With having a huge port area the longer the port will need to correct? Whats the minimum amount of port area. The port will probably be rectangle. I can make it the full length of the box if needed. Also will serve as bracing

ShadeTreeMechanic Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 Generally for a given port tune, making the port bigger will mean that the port would have to be longer to keep the same tune. But the box volume plays into this too. The bigger the box the shorter the port has to be for a given port tune. Robert North Posted May 13, 2016 Author Report Posted May 13, 2016 Can someone check my calculations for me. 48"x34"x22" wood thickness .71 The woofer displacement each .17x6=.51 Port opening 48"x4"=192" Length 15" tune 34hz Using 2 common walls (L&R side) Port is located down the middle of box. 3 woofers above and 3 below it. Port can serve as bracing being in the center of the box.

A 4" x 48" port has a really high aspect ratio, you might want to consider a different port layout. Also if you box is 48" wide externally, your port can't be 48" wide.
