BRiedman
How big and what type of fuse is best for under the hood, along the power wire that runs to the rear? I'm very new to the wiring department.
reedal
Yay, another fuse question.... Get ready to get different answers from multiple people. My vote is: Type= ANL fuse Size= less than or equal to the ampacity rating of the wire that you're using for the length of the run. Not all wire is created equal, so it varies from brand/type/size. Contact your wife's manufacturer for ampacity ratings. If you have a wire running from one battery to another then make sure it is fused within 12 inches of each battery. Edit: I said "wife's manufacturer". I mean wire's, but I'm gonna leave "wife's" because of the funnies. BRiedman
Thank you guys. (Just back story so you understand) I purchased my truck off of a friend and he had an audio system installed. And I am going through and re doing wires, fuses, enclosure and my whole truck. The way it was set up before was just a power wire running from the alternator to a fuse, more than 12" away, then continued to the rear where it connected to an isolator. Which then was connected to an extra battery, then ran to the amps. It had a 250a fuse. I am not sure what kind it is.
