18" Soundstream X3 Dual 2 Ohm (Will it fit in newer Dodge Charger?)

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about getting this subwoofer for my car but was wondering what everyone thoughts about this particular subwoofer would be......

Is it good? also ... will this fit inside a Dodge Charger with an custom ported enclosure?

Soundstream recommends a 6 cu. ft. box so would need to know the dimensions you are working with. Generally speaking Soundstream subs are not that great but i cant speak for this specific one.

What is your budget? I'm sure there are other options that are better both in sound quality and suited for the space you have.

A few i would look at:

just to name a few. there are many more options.

I have a teammate who runs/ran those before getting custom soft parts. They are great subs, strong motors, nice coils and suspension, but they cheaped out on the tinsel leads (very thin for a subwoofer with its wattage ratings). That aside, he had a 5k on them and could beat on them all day long in about 7 cubic ft for an 18. There are also other good options out there aside from them.

Plz list other options but it has to be an 18" subwoofer since I have limited space... I don't want 12s or 15s since I've had both in previously installed setups and I've always wanted to try 1 single subwoofer on 5,000+ constant watts.

With the dimensions posted, you cannot run a single 18. Those dimensions give 5.55 cubic ft before ANY displacement, not even a layer of wood. A single 15 or 2 12's looks like as big as you can go with those dimensions.

edit: say if you were to do a sealed box, the biggest you could do with .75" MDF would be 4.4 cubes before the subwoofers displacement. So around 4.2 cubic ft after that. 18's generally need 5.5 to 8 cubic ft after all displacements are taken care of.

A guy told me -> I came up with a design that will hit low, the only concern is the height, I may not be able to fit the sub on the front baffle board, I may have to top mount it. It will be 16"H x 35"W x 18"D. 4.42^3ft gross vol. Slot port, 14.5"H x 2.75"W @30Hz. After all displacement, 3.37^3ft net vol.

Well than what's a 15" that will take 5k rms all day? I know of the SSA Evil 15".... I know of the Fi Team 15".. I know of the AA SMD series 15"... keep in mind my price range for 1 sub is only between $400-800...
