I have a nissan altima with a 225a excessive amperage alt, but planning to upgrade to a 270a or bigger if i can find someone that makes a bigger alt for my car. I've been lookimg at northstar and xs power 12v batteries but dont know how many i need. Nightshade Posted July 18, 2016 Report Posted July 18, 2016 At an absolute minimum I would try to run 5 group 31 batteries from either company that you mentioned. XS Power says that a D3100 can handle around 5K watts, so with 5 of them you can support a theoretical 25K watts but for only a short time. If you are going to be playing this on a daily basis it always helps to have the extra battery power available to use when you need it. I just added a D3100 to my car with the stock battery for the time being and I am not running much power at all.
