ssaulen2011 Posted July 21, 2016 Report Posted July 21, 2016 Ok I have 2 amps a 1600.1 for subs and 800.4 for mids and highs.. I have 0 gauge from front to battery in rear then battery grounded.. I have pos and neg for both amps ran to the battery posts. The 800.4 works fine the 1600.1 has no output but just a few days ago it did.. I have checked everything twice over and seems to be fine. Something I noticed today when going over it all again was the rca cables for 1600.1 are very very hot? The rca cables for 800.4 are not. If I plug the cables for 1600.1 into 800.4 they don't get hot and output is fine. If I plug rca cables from 800.4 into the 1600.1 no output and those cables begin to warm up... is the 1600.1 amp bad?
Karkov Posted July 21, 2016 Report Posted July 21, 2016 Interesting. Where did you ground rear battery to? You are sure ALL connections are as close to "perfect" as possible? What brands? How long have you had everything hooked up like this? Would be nice if you posted pics. IDK why, like are these things sliding around in trunk or...? What RCA's you using? I was going to suggest the switching of RCA's to do process of elimination. I have never heard of RCA's getting hot so I am tuned in for more answers. Any more possible info you can give would be helpful. 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. ShadeTreeMechanic Posted July 21, 2016 Report Posted July 21, 2016 Check the amp ground. It sounds like the amp is seeking a ground through the RCAs. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
ssaulen2011 Posted July 21, 2016 Author Report Posted July 21, 2016 Check the amp ground. It sounds like the amp is seeking a ground through the RCAs. I would think both amps would be doing this if it was ground? Both are grounded to a battery less than 12 inches away and battery is grounded to body
ssaulen2011 Posted July 21, 2016 Author Report Posted July 21, 2016 I'm not home yet for pics but here is more info.. I got a yellow top optima battery up front Knu koncepts 0 gauge ofc power wire to kinetic 800 in rear.. kinetic is grounded to body with same brand 0 gauge. Have 4 gauge stinger pro series wires for amp power and grounds all coming off kinetic battery. Theven amps are mb quarts onx1.1600d and mb quarts 800.4... might add that I have had the 1.1600d for like 6 years used in many different vehicles and set ups. All rcas are Knu koncepts brand. And everything is ran under carpet.. rcas down pass power down driver sides.
