hammerhead-ky Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 Okay so i am determined to get low. i listen to only slowed / re-bassed music no desire for anything mainstream and could care less about anything above 40 hz. if i can play it great if not oh well. the range id like to be able to play is 15-30ish hz I just like it low. I need some help getting there. I understand i need to tune low but how low should i tune? and port area is another concern i have. typically 12-18 port area per cube is optimal but when your tuning to 20ish hz its impractical. should i sacrifice port area ? if so to what extent before it becomes a whistle box. I have 2 dss ethos and about 2k rms vehicle 2003 pt cruiser electrical stock alternator 2 acdelco batteries (not great for car audio i know) big 3 available demensions width- 36 height- 15 depth- 20
hammerhead-ky Posted September 13, 2016 Author Report Posted September 13, 2016 oops my bad 12's. also have to fire the subs back and port back or side .cant do up amps and battery on top the box
06RTCharger Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 oops my bad 12's. also have to fire the subs back and port back or side .cant do up amps and battery on top the box Your gonna mount the amp the the sub box? Ive heard thats not a good idea, being that the sub box is gonna vibrate like crazy from the bass, specially since u want nothing but lows. Would u really want the amp mounted to that, shaking up all the electrical hardware and stuff in the amp? Might not matter and still be fine, but i wouldnt risk it.
hammerhead-ky Posted September 13, 2016 Author Report Posted September 13, 2016 well if i want to keep everything in the hatch thats the only way space wise ive got an amp rack on top of it with rubber boots at the mounting feet.
Wasteland_Audio Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 Ok well this is about the best you'll be able to do with the space you have available. I tried to give you as much port area as possible while keeping your port lengths within reason. It sounds like you'll only be giving these about half their rated power, which will be fine for this box. However, if you ever add more power this box may get a little small (and weak for 4000 watts).
hammerhead-ky Posted September 13, 2016 Author Report Posted September 13, 2016 damn. well i appreciate it looks like a nice design . if only i could go like 7-8 si port area per cube
Wasteland_Audio Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 this design has 16.5 inches per cube.
hammerhead-ky Posted September 13, 2016 Author Report Posted September 13, 2016 i know lol i was saying if only i could run that little of port area so i could tune lower.
