noser7 Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 hey guys I have a question I can't find an answer to. how do you build subwoofer using neodymium magnets? like the end and fi audio subs. pretty much you need a top plate , the and the bottom right? where should the placement of the magnets be in conjunction witht the voicecoil? anybody help please for me and for people who got skills to build there own is there book or something?
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 Top plate and bottom plate. Put the neo in the middle. No really, nobody can explain it enough in a single thread to enable you to build one successfully if you don't even know where to start. Do a search here as there are several neo build threads. Google is your friend. The motor geometry has to be very specific because you just can't slap some parts together and expect to have something. Good luck. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
noser7 Posted February 12, 2017 Author Report Posted February 12, 2017 I mean like the EMF audio design subs. I have also seen the DSS trident top plate and it's GLORIOUS how can I make my own guys . I can use a 4" voice coil with the tc basket
noser7 Posted February 12, 2017 Author Report Posted February 12, 2017 yea your right bro that's what the bot companies pay research money for. I think it can work given you give enough coil gap and spacing depth it don't bottom out. but it actually sounding good are 2 different things right haha
Wasteland_Audio Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 So is the idea here to use a pre-made basket and moving parts and just build the motor? If so it sounds like it could be a fun project. As far as magnet placement goes i would think it would just be a lot of trial and error.
noser7 Posted February 12, 2017 Author Report Posted February 12, 2017 yea pretty much just the motor and buy the soft parts apart. that's the hard part bro I know
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 There is no need to guess on coil gap and everything else. Do some research to see what is important and why. Then when you are all done you will need to measure the T/S parameters to see what you need to build for a box. Hopefully the response curve will be reasonable. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
