crownvictoria31
My question here is If these straps are missing which in my case they are, can they be simply added with regular 4 gauge or 2 gauge high quality car audio ground wire or is the bond strap better? I am missing a few bond straps and this could be the reason for my radio/noise interference car is a 2005 crown vic.
Skullz
Yes, You'll just end up doing a big 4 instead of a big 3. You run one from the engine to the battery, engine to the chassis, and chassis to the battery, and as i always like to say, you can never have enough grounds cause if grounds are broken, they can do some very funky things with newer cars. One thing you always need to check is the strap between the starter and battery cause that can be a big headache if you ever forget that, leaving you stranded thinking your starter went out. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
crownvictoria31
I forgot to mention that I have the big 4 in 2/0 wire. What I'm trying to figure out is if its important for the grounding/bonding straps that come from factory to be on the car. My car from factory suppose to have a radio suppression package (53M) which consist of the following bonding grounds: Hood to body (LH/RH) Engine to dash panel Engine to frame Tail pipe to frame (LH/RH) Decklid to body (LH/RH) Body to Frame rear (LH/RH) My car is missing a few of these factory bonding straps. Skullz
Most everyone leaves them in place and just adds on, electrons will take the path of least resistance, and you can never have enough grounds on a car, especially modern cars with all the computers they have. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
