noobslayer77 Posted March 27, 2017 Report Posted March 27, 2017 Got an sp4v2 15 on a skar 3500 at half ohm,. gets stinky after about 30 seconds. Box is 3 cube tuned at 40. Just a temp box. Swapped it out for my skar zvx 15 and i can play that thing all day long. I know FI uses a shit ton of glue, but it is kind of concerning. My hunch is that's the case here. If the sub is new it WILL smell for a while... Based off ratings you are in theory overpowering the sub BEFORE impedance rise... plus you lose cone control running amp at 0.5 (dampening factor) Although I would think none of this actually applies to your set up....IMO should be able to do just what you're doing. SP4v2 rating goes to 3500 watts RMS from 3000 on v1 correct? What is voltage doing? Got the so hot the carbon fiber cap was beyond hot. If your set fairly clean, it has to be glue your smelling. I know those subs are beast and i've scoped a few songs. i'm clean on burps and a slight slight clip on some tracks. Like i said, no issues with the zvx, i just didnt wanna blow a 500 dollar sub so i took it out. I'm sellin the zvx and that 40hz fart tube and puttin in a lvl 4 18 this weekend. Should have both sp4s in and the ampere hopefully end of april. Lemme know if u have any other advice on the sp4s 2004 Jeep Liberty Limited 2 13w7s skar 3500 cnf mids (soon) xs batteries
