I tried to keep the box to as close to the specs you provided from JL since you said that was the sound you like. The main difference you will see is that the port area has been increased by 10 in^2 therefore the port has also been extended but it all fits perfectly in the dimensions you gave. In the pictures and model you will see one large enclosure but if you look in the middle there is a middle split. Both enclosures are identical mirrors of each other. On to the specs and pics. Box Specs: Net Volume: 1.68 ft^3 Port Area: 29 in^2 Port Tuning: 33.34 Hz (this is using JL's stock equation but using some other equations, it is at 31Hz where the original was at 33Hz. This 31Hz is the number used in the simulated graphs) Overall Dimmesnions (both put together): 34"W X 16"H X 22"D Individual Dimmension: 17"W X 16"H X 22"D These upcoming graphs are comparisons of the box i've designed to the box the JL recommends. Blue line is my design while red line is JL's design. Transfer Magnitude (shows the general shape of the frequency response of the enclosure/driver) Note that the frequency response will change once in the car but this gives you a comparison of the two designs Cone Excursion (shows how much cone control you will have. This is simulated at 750W) Note the excursion will most likely differ once in the car but, again, it for comparison purposes. The green line you see is the Xmax of the sub. Port Velocity. This one is interesing. JL's design had a relatively high port velocity of like 29 m/s at peak (750W). Because I increased port area you're now down to about 20.6 m/s peak (750W). What this means is you're likely to get some gain in output from the port. How much? Couldn't tell you and it may not be really audible but hey, it's neat. You'll be the one to say if it made an improvement. The crudely drawn green line is the 30 m/s line. This is the front baffle of the enclosure. It is 1" thick. This is the sub cutout position. It is 3/4" thick This is the side of the enclosure. Both sides are the same size. They are 3/4" thick This is the back of the enclosure. It is 1" thick These are the sizes of the port panels. They are 3/4" thick This is the bracing. Trying to make this box rock solid and trying to get it closer to spec. It is 3/4" thick. The border is 1" thick all the way around. It is 5.5" from the baffle. Again, the other box is identical, just mirrored.

DLHgn Posted May 16, 2017 Report Posted May 16, 2017 I knew I forgot something. Every internal corner in the port should have a waveguide. The waveguide is 1 21/32" with 45's going inwards and 14.5" long. You will need 5 per box. Also, the dimensions of the top and bottom panels are 17" X 22"
