Dont know much about them, but if there not pulling atleast 40 amps of current to blow that fuse then theres something wrong with the fuse block or that amp.

This all resembles to meglo test he just did about under powering.

You CAN NOT blow a sub from less power. The sub blows from clipping from the amp or the hu.

Get a bigger amp and milk the gains a lil and your fine.

I never said anything about blowing a sub from underpowering.

You blow it from clipping.

I intend to upgrade electrical first and see how it does from there.

I do plan on getting a Sundown 1500 though.

Here ya go.

1000 watts/14 volts is 71.4 (ish)

71 amps of current multiplied by 14 volts is 999.6

under perfect condtions you should be getting 999 watts of power from that amplifier.

What this amounts too is that amp is not pulling more then 40 amps of current and is well below its ratings of 1000 watts if it is rated at that. Or rather that the fuse is just letting that voltage by for some odd reason my guess is the amp is crap.

also the manual says it uses 160 amps max at 1 ohm which comes out to 2240 watts

4 ohms right now

ok. now at 4 ohms that amp will see 4 full blocks of restance so the current draw will reside in a defect.

The formula for that is I=V/R

I being your current draw.

14v/4 is 3.5 amps of current draw is what sub see's

The restance is not going to effect the current draw of the fuse up front, thats just what the sub sees. Refer to the first post for your fuse problem.

I should have my own section for this brain bender.

Your fuse isn't going to instantly blow from being under rated. You can exceed its limits by a fair bit for short bursts and not having it blow. Also, keep in mine the consumption rating of your amplifiers is at FULL power, music is fluctuating and varying and for the most part, not constant. Load the amp down and play test tones and you'll most likely melt the fuse.
