Tuning Compared To Port?

How does port effect the tuning of the box? i mean like..larger port lower tuning, or larger port higher tuning?i got a box that i'm trying to change the tuning on and dont know if i should bigger port or small port to get a lower tuning

Larger port area LxW of opening = Higher tuning.

Larger port volume LxWxH of internal port dimensions = Lower port tuning.

Me, Personally I always make the port wider and make the lenght longer, because with the wider port im not worrying about port turbulance nearly as much. Longer port=deeper, shorter=higher wider=higher=skinnier=lower.

not entirely true...depends on Vb for both cases.

for the same net volume....with a larger port area the port much be longer to maintain the same tuning compared to a smaller port area.

Port volume depends on port area and tuning with respect to Vb

but the original question didnt ask how Vb changes tuning, just how the port changes tuning
