Second alternator instead of a high output?

Recommended Posts

Would it be possible to run a second regular alternator to 2011 Ford escape instead of spending 500-600 for a high output alternator if I'm only running a 2000w audiopipe amp to 2 audiopipe bd2 1500w peak 750rms? Headlights are dimming a bit, and I have a capacitor, but I have yet to see the capacitor actually do anything (unless if I take it off the lights dim a LOT worse) I am about to do the big 3 upgrade but will my choke point be needing a second battery as well?

what capacitor do you have? Some of these out here are not what you want. The right way to do it is with some maxwell capacitor or an equivalent cell wired together for 12v - 14v usage.

*XS power makes them in a prebuilt enclosure for the price of a HO alt... (https://4xspower.com/shop/super-banks/12v-500-super-banks/sb500-34/)

-Expensive

Another way to stop headlight dimming is to switch to led lights

+Relatively Cheap way to stop dimming headlights (<40$)

Also, what batteries do you have installed now? Should have at least one secondary AGM.

+Mid tier expense, batteries are usually 200-400 per for an AGM.
